INTERVIEW: Gifted da Flamethrowa talks about going back & graduating college while working a day job

A few weeks ago my man Gifted da Flamethrowa graduated college with a business management degree.

A few days before he crossed the stage I sat down with him in The Woodlands, Texas to discuss his return to school, balancing that with family and church obligations, and how sometimes a "day job" is the right thing to do despite a person's "full-time music minister" dream title.

I caught just a bit of this as I was leaving SXSW 2010 for the night. I love it when dudes take it back to freestylin' and I really like the acoustic jam session element of this one.

k-Drama Records Christian MMA Gear Theme

GRITS ain't the only ones getting their game on.

Fresh off his recent concert at a Cincinnati Reds baseball game, k-Drama reports via Twitter that he just recorded and released a new theme song for the "Jesus Didn't Tap Out" MMA-themed clothing line.

Kobe & DWade on 'Em remixes

Sho Baraka was one of the first to update k-Drama's signature "Air Jordan" tune with someone from the new school for "Kobe Bryant On 'Em" from his FREE "Barakology: Why So Serious?" mixtape. (Download it here.)

Now, Dre Marshall has given it a southern spin with "D'Wade On 'Em." (Listen here.)

Dre's isn't as good as Sho's (plus, Sho took just about every other available celeb) - but I love how cats are regionalizing this joint.

I wonder if Regis knew when he cut this that he was starting a MOVEMENT!

k-Drama's "Air Jordan" posse remix - Free DL

k-Drama just flipped a posse cut remix to his career-defining "Air Jordan" track. It now features Thi'sl, Json, Young Josh, J.Johnson and Pro.

I love crew joints like this and the fact that Drama added a whole new verse to his part so you know it's not just a cut-and-paste job. Good work Regis.

My only beef is that he didn't use "Stretch the Plagiarist" as the reporter at the beginning.

Sketch review: k-Drama / BoomBaptism

k-Drama gets my first review at the revamped DaSouth.com.

Here's your teaser and link to the full piece.

The introductory track to k-Drama's new album, "The Inevitable", builds anticipation to the rest of the disc. The artist's quick rap and explanation of the BoomBaptism title hooks the listener with a promise of a musical rebirth to come. And with a Theory Hazit-provided Thriller-like howl in the background, one immediately wants to buy into the vision of the project.
